OK I should have done this a week ago when Argent sent me the stuff but I got so stuck into other things I forgot about it.
Argent has kindly converted the Enchanted Editor manual I released into a single Windows Help File (a .CHM file). The last version was a bunch of web pages. He also sent me some updates to the Editor Template file, which will tweak the Enchanted Editor to display some information more meaningfully. Both are included in a self-extracting zip file with an installer for the new template. The file can be downloaded here Download EE Manual I also uploaded it to MW Summit under the name "Enchanted Editor Manual" in the categories Tweaks, Miscellaneous and Tutorials. |

Guess I will have to wait for the Summit, cause the above download link is not working. Same goes for your link to all the webpages stuff awhile back.
Apart from the whining ---> Some help with the Enchanted Editor is sure welcome. -------------------- Visit my website at http://freewebs.com/reflection_nl/ for info and screenshots of my mods:

I had no problems downloading it.
Btw, a very useful addition to an indispensable tool (once I had done a coordinate hack to solve a specific problem - this wouldn't have been that easy with any other Morrowind tool I know of). So for the helpfile, and the Enchanted Editor itself, a late from me. -------------------- Avatar? What avatar? I don't need one! I'm not Lord British, after all.

QUOTE(Ronin49 @ Sep 25 2004, 03:15 AM) Farren1 - Thank you again. Do you see this as a replacement for the previous release or another option? Edit: Re-reading your post, this sounds like a patch that one adds to the existing Enchanted Editor. Is that correct? The download is working fine for me. Ronin its the same manual I previously posted, only the previous one was lots of HTML files and graphic files seperately. Argent's compiled them into a single (Windows Help) file. There is a slight update, too. The format template dictates how the Editor displays information. Since, to date, no-one outside of Bethesda knows what everything in a MW save or plugin file means, the Enchanted Editor only correctly displays around 90% of the information. It shows and allows you to edit the other 10%, but as raw data rather than seperated out into what it represents. But the way I programmed the editor, it uses an external file to determine how to process and display data, so as myself and others dig a bit and figure out what the remaining undiscovered bits mean, we can update and distribute the format template text file, which is small, instead of me rewriting code and releasing another 6MB download. So this help file is bundled with the latest format template, which has a few tweaks, including - The ItemSellable flag, which was previously displayed by the editor as "Unknown data" - XRot, YRot and ZRot of Cell items have been updated to read XRot (degrees), YRot (Degrees) and ZRot (Radians) because for some odd reason it uses different units for ZRotation, and if you're fiddling it should be clear to you. There are a few other things but I forget what they are. BTW, if you come across stuff marked as Unknown you can tweak the template yourself to make it display more sensibly or just relabel it, but you have to read the relevant manual section carefully and fully understand it to play with this stuff. Argent and J.O.G. are the source of most of the changes in the up-to-date template. If I've got any further tweaks I'll release the format template on its own rather than with the help file so that its a tiny (<50k) download. I just bundled them to get everything I had out there this time This post has been edited by Farren1: Sep 25 2004, 11:57 AM |

Farren1 I just thought of something does this or is there any chance this can be made to link directly to the help menu in your editor. It would be much easier to access it then when it's open, anyway just a question? I know it's very helpful either way.

As a complete tangent to this thread (but I don't think its worth a whole other thread on the forum) here's a screenie of my new utility in progress for anyone who's interested. I posted an Alpha thread not too long ago but I've made significant improvements both functionally and asthetically (nice big colourful buttons now and a easy use wizard planned)
Modbook screenie Basically it will allow you to import readmes for mods into books in your game, so you never have to alt-tab to check where you're sposed to go to get started or check a spoiler when you're deeply frustrated, First you import readmes into an "modbook" which is a proprietory compressed file format I created that can hold vast numbers of readme files (I put 30,000 readmes in it - every single one on my drive = 15mb Modbook file) It also converts HTML to text (because some readmes are HTML) and scans zip files for readmes - I'm considering including an "Import readme from zip and install the plugin" feature so you basically publish the readme when you install the plugin. You can then filter the modbook entries using a powerful filter function (shown in the screenie-Title, Author, Keywords etc) and export the filtered list to books in your game. Alternatively you can just say "put this readme in the game" without the intervening steps. The intervening steps are useful, however, when you're doing it for the first time and want to say "find all readmes in this folder and its sub-folders and import them so I can look through them and decide what to publish to my game" You can also, for instance, just cut and paste your favourite stories into the modbook and publish it to the game. In the game the books will be published to a personal library that will work like bottle home (the mod still requires a lot of work - so far I've only done the basic interior). Basically you'll be able to summon a portal to the library anywhere then step through into the library. Dongle has given me a cool Daedric portal he did that was never used for this purpose. Now that looks and sounds just great Farren1, I often have wanted access to help files to clarify points while ingame. This should be a very very handy tool to have around, I definetely look forward to using it!

The readme book features and forthcoming library mod both sound intriguing. Thank you again for these fine contributions. *trophy* -------------------- |

BTW Everyone who reads this call me Farren, not Farren1. It's my real name that I use on the Web 'cos I don't like anonymity. The only reason I'm Farren1 on this forum is it wouldn't let me use Farren and wouldn't let me login with my old password and I couldn't see a way to contact the mods/admins without logging in.

Thanks Farren & Argent for the handy new chm format help, the new utility looks very promising too.
WRT to accessing your original username, the proceedure is outlined here, though it requires an active email address. If that doesn't work you could try PMing one or more Moderators or Admins - use the Members link at the top of the page & filter by Member type. |
